Gordon Retzer was elected president of
the Southern Union Conference in the summer of 2003. He came to
the Southern Union from the Lake Union Conference, where he served as
president for three years. Prior to that he was president for
three years of the Florida Conference. He has been president of
Kansas-Nebraska and Rocky Mountain Conferences, and has also served as
executive secretary, ministerial director, and personal ministries
director, as well as pastoring churches in Florida and Iowa.
Service to the Church also took him to Guam, where he was manager of
Adventist World Radio. Elder Retzer is married to Cheryl Marley,
and they have two children and two grandchildren. They enjoy scuba
diving, hiking, and a variety of other outside sports. He also
enjoys playing piano and worship through music.
